cOMMUNITY cAT pROGRAM (ccp)

- The Program is currently paused pending funding -

  • A community cat is an outdoor, unowned, free-roaming cat. Working to stabilize and ultimately reduce their numbers, is one of the most complex issues facing animal shelters today.
    A Community Cat Program is designed to spay/neuter, vaccinate and return healthy community cats to their outdoor homes.

  • Inyo County Animal Services (ICAS) offer a dedicated Community Cat Program (CCP) through grant funding that provides free sterilization. You must call ahead for shelter approval and trap/drop-off instructions at (760) 938-2715. All animals have to be returned to their outdoor homes. Always check the cat's ear for a missing tip or notch! This means they have already been spayed/neutered.

  • Bishop Veterinary Hospital partners with ICAS to accept approved community cats for sterilization. Their location in Bishop is at 1650 N. Sierra Highway. You will be turned away if not pre-approved!
