cOMMUNITY cAT pROGRAM (ccp)

- The Program is currently paused pending funding -

  • Community cats are outdoor, unowned, free-roaming cats. They may be feral, friendly or anything in between. A Community Cat Program is designed to sterilize and return healthy community cats to their outdoor homes thereby stabilizing and ultimately reducing their numbers.

  • Inyo County Animal Shelter (ICAS) offers a dedicated grant-funded program that provides free sterilization until funds are dispersed.
    - You must call ahead for approval and trap/drop-off instructions at (760) 938-2715.
    - All animals have to be returned to their outdoor homes.
    - Always check the cat's ear for a missing tip or notch. This means they have already been
    spayed/neutered.

  • Bishop Veterinary Hospital is our veterinary partner. Their Bishop location is at 1440 N. Sierra Highway.
    - All cats have to be in a live trap. Animals in e.g. carriers and boxes will not be accepted.
    - You will be turned away if not pre-approved.
    - Adult cats will receive free Rabies vaccination.

52 free-roaming cats were sterilized as of July 2026!
